The special appeal to raise £1.5million has been completed successfully. This enabled a new chemotherapy treatment and research suite to be built at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. It was opened officially by Sir Terry Wogan on Wednesday 29th September 2010. It provides modern and comfortable conditions for patients and will enable more people to take part in trials of the very latest cancer treatments available.

Charitable donations have also enabled Mount Vernon and its patients to benefit from a £2.25 million Brachytherapy Unit (opened September 2006) which provides radiotherapy treatment for prostate and other cancers, and in 2010 to become the first NHS hospital to have a "Cyberknife" the very latest piece of radiotherapy equipment, enabling the treatment of tumours sited in difficult positions.

In June 2010 a new research and development partnership was formed with the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust which should further enhance the world-class cancer research carried out at Mount Vernon now and in the future.

Help us continue this vital work but making a donation.
